Experts have largely discussed over the long-term effect of marijuana. Now, science offers answers for anybody in doubt.

One of the biggest disputes involved the effect of marijuana on human brain. It was long considered as dangerous and harmful substance, and some have claimed that long-term use can damage the brain. Did they forgot that alcohol is still legal, despite the fact it is dangerous to the brain?

Science confirmed that marijuana is superior to booze, and researchers at the University of Texas did a research that was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

This specific research was based on the long-term effect of marijuana on human brain.

The researchers busted the myth that marijuana harms IQ, and also provided evidence proving that it can be effectively used in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. It was also found that regular use of marijuana contributes to better connectivity in the brain. Is this amazing or what?

Although the preliminary results were quite encouraging, some believe that further research is more than needed.

Research demonstrated a real phenomenon. Marijuana can actually reduce the gray matter in the orbitofrontal cortex, or OFC. If by any chance you did not know it, this is the very part of the brain that is connected with addiction. Amazing results, do not you agree?

But, as we already mentioned, this has to be confirmed in bigger studies.

Cannabinoids promote brain cell growth, also known as neurogenesis.  In other words, weed is good for the brain!
